How do I set up an emergency contact in Keeper?

Keeper's Emergency Access feature lets you give trusted family and friends access to your vault in the event of an emergency or loss of life. You can designate up to five emergency contacts and choose how long to wait before their access is granted. This feature is only available for consumer accounts.

To add an emergency contact:

  1. Log into the Web Vault.
  2. Click your email address in the top right corner and choose Account > Emergency Access.
  3. Click Trusted Users.
  4. Enter your emergency contact's email address.
  5. Select how soon you'd like to grant access to your vault from the Delay Access dropdown. You can set a delay of up to three months per contact. Once configured, the countdown begins the moment your trusted user attempts to log in to your vault.
  6. Enter the user's email address and delay setting, then send the invite.

To accept the request, you and your contact need an existing sharing relationship (through Keeper's record or folder sharing features), or one will need to be set up first. If your contact isn't an existing Keeper user, they'll receive an email inviting them to sign up. Once they sign up and log in, they can accept the sharing relationship request.

You can check your emergency contact's status under Trusted Users. If you've been invited to be someone's emergency contact, you can check your permissions under My Access.
