How to Locate Your 24-Word Recovery Phrase
Your 24-word Recovery Phrase is created when you enable account recovery. It is only shown once and must be saved by you at that time.
Haven't set up a Recovery Phrase yet? See 'What is recovery phrase and how do I set it up?'.
If you’re unable to locate it, please check the following common locations:
On iPhone / iPad (Files App)
- Open the Files app
- Tap Browse
- Use the search bar at the top
- Search for:
- “Keeper Recovery Phrase”
- “text”
- Check folders like:
- On My iPhone
- iCloud Drive
- Downloads
On Android Devices
- Open the My Files or Files app (varies by device)
- Tap Search
- Search for:
- “Keeper”
- “Recovery”
- “.txt”
- Check common folders:
- Downloads
- Documents
- Internal Storage
On a Computer (Windows / Mac)
Check Downloads Folder
- Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac)
- Go to the Downloads folder
- Look for files named:
- Keeper Recovery Phrase
- Any recently downloaded .txt file
Use Search
- On Windows: Use the search bar in File Explorer
- On Mac: Use Spotlight (Cmd + Space)
Search for:
- “Keeper”
- “Recovery”
- “.txt”
Additional Places to Check
- Email attachments (search your inbox for “Keeper” or “Recovery Phrase”)
- Notes apps (Apple Notes, Google Keep, etc.)
- Screenshots or photos
- Password managers or secure storage apps
Important
- Keeper does not store or have access to your Recovery Phrase
- It cannot be retrieved or reset by support
